First TASTI Conference Aiming to Create Space Tech Integration Platform to Kick Off in October

2023/06/20

To advance the country’s space technology and industry development, the National Science and Technology Council (NTSC) has tasked Taiwan Space Agency (TASA) with the responsibility of integrating the resources of key industry, government, academic and research organizations in Taiwan. It was announced today (June 20) that the inaugural Taiwan International Assembly of Space Science, Technology, and Industry (TASTI) will be held over a five-day period starting on October 30, 2023. The event will consist of industry forums, international seminars, exhibitions and presentations of academic research papers. It aims not only to be Taiwan’s largest international exhibition in the space domain but also to create an important platform for promoting the development of the country’s space technology, as well as aspiring to become a significant event in the space sector of Asia.

The global space sector has been experiencing tremendous growth in terms of technological advancement and industrial development, and Taiwan is positioning itself favorably to capitalize on this trend based on its strengths in technology. Under the active support of NTSC, an important milestone has been achieved with the upgraded and reorganized TASA, which is a significant development for the nation’s space industry. Furthermore, following the conclusions of the successful editions of the International Conference on Astronautical and Space Exploration (iCASE) conference for four consecutive years, this year the event has been expanded as a new major international exhibition, TASTI, which aims to create a comprehensive, integrated consolidation platform to showcase Taiwan’s space technology capabilities, whereby participating organizations may work together to organize various types of activities while maintaining their distinctive individual characteristics; these activities include hosting exhibition booths, academic poster sessions, industry forums and international seminars.

TASA issued a press release today stating that the TASTI is slated to be held on the 7th floor of Hall 2, Nangang International Exhibition Center, Taipei, from October 30 to November 3 this year. Online registration is now open to all participants and contributors through the official conference website. The event is co-sponsored by a number of major industry, governmental, academic and research organizations, including Taiwan Space Industry Development Association (TSIDA), Taiwan LEO Satellite Industry Association (TLEOSIA), Taiwan Space Union (TSU), International Conference on GPS Radio Occultation (ICGPSRO), and Taiwan Space Radiation Measurement Alliance (TSRMA).

According to the plans of the NSTC and TASA, the latter being the event’s principal organizer, this year TASTI’s forums and seminars will feature a diverse range of topics and themes, such as communication satellites, advanced satellite technologies, CubeSat technology, new space, space resilience, space transportation, GNSS-RO/GNSS-R signal technology for observation and related applications, TSU satellite science workshops, space industry forums, space law and policies, and CubeSat competitions for students.

TASA notes that with the current space industry boom, Taiwan indeed plays a crucial role on a global scale. This year TASTI will bring together leading local and international space industry experts and professionals from enterprises as well as scientific and technological research institutions. Moreover, efforts are underway to invite major players and key figures from space industries around the world to participate in the conference, which is expected to attract 1,500 attendees, which will make it the largest space-related event in Taiwan.
