    07/04 The first upper atmosphere lightning phenomenon detected by the "Upper Atmosphere Lightning Imager" of FORMOSAT-2

    09/12 The President Chen Shui-bian and Vice-president Lu Hsiu-lien toured National Space Program Office and granted a reward medal with a phrase of celebration "Path Through Satisfaction" as an encouragement for the completion of FORMOSAT-2 integration and testing.

    06/01 Established National Applied Research Laboratory, with the jurisdiction of National Space Program Office came under its administration.

    07/15 Detected the image of low-density ion holes in the ionospheric layer above the sky of Brazil by the Ionospheric Plasma and Electrodynamics Instrument (IPEI) on FORMOSAT-1.

    06/21 National Science Council announced the result for the "Naming and Drawing Competitions", and finalized that the satellite will be named "FORMOSAT-1" .

    04/25 Held a FORMOSAT-1 antenna installment ceremony at Tainan National Cheng Kung University.
