Description

NSPO provides a one-stop service platform according to international test standards to assist customers in performing space specification radiation verification tests to meet the requirements of aerospace electronic components.
Radiation tests use gamma rays and high-energy proton particles to perform irradiation testing on semiconductor electronic components and parts to detect the radiation tolerance of microelectronic components, circuit boards and systems, thereby improving the circuit protection mechanism of electronic components and enhancing the quality of electronic components. Through radiation testing, electronic components can evaluate whether they can achieve the expected mission life in the expected space radiation environment.


Service Scope

Two main types of radiation effects for electrical components are:
(1) Total ionizing dose (TID) effect:
The TID is the absorbed dose in electronic materials resulting from the energy deposition of ionizing radiation. Due to the gradual increase of the accumulated charge released by the radiation in the use of electronic components, the characteristics of the components gradually change, until they finally lead to permanent failure and unusable. It is also known as hard error.
(2) Single Event Effect (SEE) :
Electronic devices and integrated circuits exposed to high-energy heavy ion or proton radiation may be affected by the SEE, which may greatly limit their use in the space environment. The temporary failure of electronic components, caused by the radiation of high-energy proton particles entering electronic components and circuits, is also called soft error. A soft error is a non-destructive failure that can be corrected by reprogramming the circuit to the correct logic state and after a soft error occurs.
